This past Saturday I went to “Diana:  A Celebration” with my sister, mom and my mom’s BFF!!  (Side note:  is it just me or is it funny to think of your parent’s BFF’s??)  Anyhow, the exhibit came to the Atlanta Civic Center in January and it will be open through Mid-June.

It was really, a very neat exhibit! Different rooms represented different stages of her life – growing up as a young girl, her engagement and wedding to Prince Charles, her Charity work, her untimely death & funeral, and of course her style!

There were plenty of artifacts & items in each exhibit room, but here are some of my favorites:

Growing Up as a Young Girl - They had real-life, home video footage.  It was so cute!!  You say her playing in the grass with her family, jumping & running around.  So crazy to think that as a little girl she couldn’t have even imagined that one day she would become a Princess!!  Makes me think about the road that lies ahead for my little Princess!

Her Engagement & Wedding – As soon as you turned the corner to head into this Exhibit, you were greeted with ROYALTY!!  The beautiful gown & 25-foot train!  While I loved the gown, I also loved just walking around and looking at some of the memorabilia in this room.  To say that this country was excited about this wedding would be an understatement!  There were some letters & photographs that her father had taken pictures of leading up to the wedding.  You could tell even he couldn’t get over all the excitement!

Her Charity Work - This is the reason I like Diana.  I think you can tell when someone of “power” has to do something and when they actually want to do something.  And I really believe that her heart was in all her charity work for the right reasons.  It’s amazing everything that she started!!

The Funeral - This room definitely took me back to 1997.  The pictures.  The sadness.  The song.  It was all there in that room.  I saw one woman crying and several others that probably could at any minute. And honestly, I probably could have if I looked at the picture of “Mummy” written on a card and placed on her casket any longer!  I also couldn’t help but think how pale in comparison Prince Charles (or even the Queen’s) funeral will be!!  Do you agree??

The Fashion – This room was really neat.  There was over 28 dresses.  I’m sure she was super stylish throughout her entire life, but those later dresses were absolutely stunning!!  You could even see some snags & pulls on some of the fabric – pretty neat to think of her actually wearing those clothes!!  And might I add that some of those dresses were super, duper low cut!!

I do agree with Staci, I really wish there was more about “the boys”.  You know that was her main priority in life and since the Exhibit was made possible because of her family, I would think they would want to show that love she had.  Or maybe they wanted to continue to respect the one thing that she wanted so much (privacy for them!).

Either way, it was really a lovely Exhibit! And if you have the time & are thinking about it at all you I would definitely recommend it before it’s gone!!  Just be sure to use this $3.00 Off Coupon!
