Organizing school projects

Everyday Evan comes home from school with a book bag full of writing papers, crafts or coloring pictures.  Some are super cute, some are not so much!  We always take a look at them together.  Every now and then we’ll keep one out and hang on the bulletin board or keep out during a specific season.  But the majority of them will all go into a container that I keep handy and with easy access in our laundry room.

School is out this week and sometime after the last day, I’ll open up the container & sort through the box.

I’ll make a keepsake pile, a learning pile and a trash pile.

1.  The keepsake pile will be be stored and labeled with the school year, school name, teacher & his age.

2.  The learning pile will be kept out and handy for use during the summer – this is usually left over writing sheets or learning sheets that the teacher sends home.

3. And the trash pile hits the garbage!  I know he’s my one & only beloved son, but that doesn’t mean I need to keep every single thing that he colors, scribbles or makes (in my opinion anyways).

Then the container is free for next year!  I’ve found it so much easier to do on a yearly basis than a daily, weekly or monthly just because I know I’d get behind.  This way it has a home and a spot even if it’s not permanent.  So I feel somewhat more clean & organized than I would otherwise.

How do you organize your child’s school projects?
